This is where the settlement of Iceland began around 874 AD, when Ingolfur Arnarson claimed the entire area. The map introduces the history and heritage of Southwest Iceland from the settlement in the 9th century up to the 20th century. The map also introduces the inhabitants’ way of life, the history of the Reykjavík capital, legends of the area, the Icelandic saltfish (baccalao) and tourism in Southwest Iceland.
